Muscle Melting Magic

Are you seeking relief from chronic muscle pain or discomfort?

Deep tissue massage is a powerful therapeutic technique that focuses on healing the inner layers of your muscles and connective tissue. The treatment helps alleviate muscle tension while addressing the underlying cause of discomfort so you can finally break free from chronic pain and tightness.

Don't let chronic pain and tension hold you back. Schedule a deep Tissue Massage today and experience the benefits for yourself.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is a powerful technique for targeting deep layers of muscle and connective tissue. By using slow, deep strokes and sustained pressure, deep tissue massage can help to break up scar tissue and relieve chronic muscle tension. It's particularly effective if you're dealing with chronic muscle pain, soreness, or imbalance.

During a deep tissue massage session, you'll experience slow, deliberate strokes that encourage your muscles, fascia, and tendons to relax and realign. This can help reduce muscle spasms, improve circulation, and increase your range of motion.

Deep tissue massage takes place undressed on a heated massage table, and I use natural sweet almond oil (or an alternative organic oil blend upon request).

Is deep tissue massage something for me?

Whether you're an athlete, someone who sits at a desk all day, or simply experiencing muscle tension, deep tissue massage can help alleviate chronic muscle problems, dysfunctional posture and restore balance to your body.

Deep tissue massage is a good choice for people with chronic muscle pain, tightness and soreness, or imbalance. It’s also beneficial for individuals who experience tight muscles or anxiety.

Since we work on the deeper muscle layers, you might experience the treatment as quite intense with some discomfort (although I’ll always respect your limits). This is a necessary part of the process. However, if you are seeking a massage purely for relaxation, opting for a Lomi Lomi massage may be better suited for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Vivamus in diam turpis. In condimentum maximus tristique.
1How long do I need for deep tissue massage?
When you book a deep tissue massage, you can choose from 60, 90, 120, or 150 minute sessions.

60 and 75 minute sessions are best suited for regular or maintenance massage. In one hour, I can either work in-depth on one specific problem area or give you an ‘express’ general full-body massage.

90+ minute sessions allow you to receive an extended full-body massage. The more time we have, the deeper I can work on your specific concerns and the more benefits you can receive.

It takes at least 45 minutes for your nervous system to relax, so I do recommend booking a longer session if you want to surrender and receive the maximum healing benefits possible.

My value-driven pricing means that the longer you book, the more affordable your treatment becomes per minute, making it easier to prioritize your self-care and wellbeing.
2What is the difference between Swedish massage and deep tissue massage?
Swedish massage is a gentle massage technique that uses long, flowing strokes to promote relaxation and ease tension in the muscles. Deep tissue massage, on the other hand, uses more pressure and focuses on releasing tension and adhesions in deeper layers of muscle tissue.

While both massages can be beneficial, deep tissue massage may be a better choice for those with chronic pain or tension. However, it can also be more uncomfortable during the massage itself. It's best to discuss your goals and concerns with me prior to your treatment to determine which technique is right for you.
3Is deep tissue massage painful?
Deep tissue massage uses more pressure to release tightness than other types of massage, it can be uncomfortable or even painful at times, but it should not be unbearable.

During the treatment, it's important to communicate with me and let me know if the pressure is too much for you. I will work within your individual capacity for pressure and use a scale system to help you learn what you like. I can adjust my technique to make the massage more comfortable for you.
4Is there any risk of injury during a deep tissue massage?
While deep tissue massage is generally safe, there is a risk of injury if the massage therapist uses too much pressure or if the client has an underlying medical condition that makes deep tissue massage unsafe. It's important to let me know if you have any health concerns before the massage.
5Can deep tissue massage help with sports performance and recovery?
Yes, deep tissue massage can be helpful for sports performance and recovery. It can help reduce muscle soreness and stiffness, improve range of motion, and increase blood flow to the muscles, which can help with healing and recovery.

Alternatively, I am trained in sports massage, a specific bodywork modality for increasing athletic performance and recovery. Learn more about sports massage here. [Link]
6Are there any medical conditions that would make deep tissue massage unsafe?
There are some medical conditions that would make deep tissue massage unsafe.

A partial list of contraindications is: fever, vascular conditions, severe heart disease, contagious skin conditions, inflammation, abrasions, cuts, ematomas, cancer, neuritis, recent surgery, infectious diseases, diabetes with vascular dysfunction, fractures, and acute injury.

There are too many possible conditions to list here so it is your responsibility to alert me to any medical condition or injury before a massage begins. You can read more about contraindications here.

If you have any health concerns, it's important to talk to your doctor before getting a deep tissue massage

What people say about
Deep Tissue Massage with Michalis

  • I had an amazing Sound Healing
    Edward Well
  • Michalis covered more than I expected & hoped from the session. The whole session feels like a ritual. Starts with a necessary, warm communication beforehand and a goes through smells, sounds, pressures, forms, directions, densities and complex stretches in a very greaceful, integrated way.
    Geert Jan van Vlastuin
  • First of all, what I loved is that he took all the time to really speak to me before the massage, get to know where I’m at, and what is it that I feel I need and want and he actually applied that in the session.
