You have Questions, I have Answers

What massage is right for me?

1Which massage should I choose?

There are many different styles of massage that I offer, a blend of techniques with a holistic approach: Thai Yoga massage, Shiatsu acupressure, Lomilomi, Deep tissue, Sports massage, and Sound healing .

You can read more about the different treatments in the descriptions.

Chair massage is a quick shoulder, neck, and back massage.

A massage on the mat is fully-clothed and includes pressure points and dynamic stretching.

With a massage on the table, I use oil and it’s all about effleurage, petrissage, tapotement, friction, kneading and vibration. -But I might throw some stretches in the blend as well.

The Signature Session is a combination of massage (either on the mat or table) and a Sound Healing and Reiki.

If you’re unsure, just share with me your concerns and what you would like to improve, I’ll be happy to give you a recommendation.

Before your session begins, we will discuss which modalities are right for you to get the most benefit from your massage.

I’ll tailor the massage to your needs and wishes so in the end, every massage is a unique experience.

You can choose a variety of add-ons  to make your experience even more profound.

2Why should I get a massage?
While it is a great way to promote relaxation, massage therapy is so much more.

Massage helps manage pain, reduce stress, improve circulation and your immune system, decrease muscle tension, ease breathing difficulties, lower blood pressure, improve exercise performance, prevent injuries, reduce headaches, improve mobility and range of motion, promote sleep, manage anxiety & depression and helps improve your overall wellness.
3How much time does a massage take?
That depends upon the reason for your visit.

Some people come weekly or every few days for a short session, in order to work on one specific area of the body. Others come for full body maintenance, and some need to reset their whole system, both physically and mentally.

It takes at least 45 minutes for your nervous system to relax, so I do recommend booking a longer session if you want to surrender and receive the maximum healing benefits possible.

My value-driven pricing means that the longer you book, the more affordable your treatment becomes per minute, making it easier to prioritize your self-care and wellbeing.

30-45 Minute Massage: Short appointments only allow time for a partial massage session, such as neck and shoulders, back, arms or legs and feet. These are pretty straight forward practical massages.

If you suffer a specific local condition and want to work regular on that part of your body, we can use this approach on a regular basis, as a part of a treatment plan. I have discounts for treatment plans up to 15% off. [LINK].

Every treatment plan will start with an in-depth intake that will allow me to assess your current condition and needs fully. From here, we will determine the length and frequency of your treatment plan to achieve optimal results. Your first session will always include a comprehensive consultation and a massage and therefore needs to be a longer session.

60-75 Minutes : A regular maintenance where I can either work in more depth on one specific point, or do a rather quick full body massage.

90-120 Minute Massages: A full body massage is in general one and a half up to two hours, sometimes even two and a half hours. It gives enough time to unwind, as it takes time for your nervous system to let go and relax and we’ll have time to address specific points that need some deeper work.

180 Minutes and up: The signature sessions[LINK] are three hours up till six hour space odysseys. That gives enough time to do an extended massage, where we have enough time to really focus on those points that need extra attention and it will be followed up by a sound healing and on the extended sessions also Reiki.

If you are new to massage and want to try it out, i’d suggest go for 90 minutes, as then you can start feeling the benefits of a session, where a 60 minute session might leave you hungry for more and leave you feeling incomplete at the end and a 3 hour session might feel too much of an blind date with the unknown.

*Good to know, it takes the body about 45 minutes to fully relax and let go, so if you want to go for a profound experience it’s always good to choose longer than an hour.
4Will I get a full 60 minutes of massage when I book a 1 hour appointment?
I work in my own studio and unlike at spa’s where they rush you with a 50 minute treatment, I do not like to rush things, therefore I never book clients in back to back.

Per treatment I block my agenda for 20 extra minutes: for you to arrive and unwind, have a tea and a chat and for you to get back to the default world in the end again.

During your first treatment with me we will need some time to fill in the intake form.

In case you feel that an extended chat beforehand is needed, that is welcome too, but do understand that unfortunately i might need to cut the massage short.

If you like an extended savasana after your massage or want to shower after a massage treatment, you can book that in through the add-ons [LINK to add ons] in the booking program, this will automatically add extra time to your treatment time in my agenda.

Please arrive on time for your appointment. Time for your appointment has been specially arranged for you. If you arrive late your session may be shortened in order to accommodate others whose appointments follow yours.
5How often should I get a massage?
Honestly, its hard to say.

Every person is unique and every condition is unique to each person.

It may take one session to work on a condition, or it may take several.

You and I will be able to talk more specifically about this after your first session and I’ve had a chance to evaluate your body's tissues and condition.

Individual preference varies, so for most it depends on your pain, physical needs, emotional needs, and of course, budget.

Receiving a massage regularly has the most benefit; this can be as often as weekly, monthly or with the change of the season. If you are just looking for some occasional relaxation, then a session every 3-6 weeks may be fine for you.

However, if you are looking to address a specific condition, then it is recommended to go more frequently at first and then slowly taper down to a maintenance schedule.

Overal i'd like you to also practice selfcare in the form of yoga or streches or some homework that i might give you, because consistency is the key in recovery.

The great news is that I offer package deals where you can save up to 15% per session.
6What kind of clients do you work with?
I have clients from all walk of life, and of all ages; the youngest has been a 9 year old kid that wanted a soundhealing for his birthday and the oldest was a lady in her late 80’s that loved my Lomi lomi sessions. I’ve given soundhealings both to an unborn and to the dog of a friend in its last hours before it past to the eternal hunting fields.

Everyone has their own reason to seek for an appointment; parents that just need a break from their kids, athletes that need recovery from training (or as part of preparation of a big game) , overworked managers with a burnout that need guidance with prioritizing self care, students that have studied continuously and need a break, but also office workers and that need a regular maintenance from their sitting job.

Some come because of an acute injury, others because of chronic pain.

Some because they need a clear piece of mind and others just because they are curious to try something different.

I am proud to be at service of a wide variety within the community and am blessed that i have a very international clientele.

I am honored that people even travel from all across the country and even abroad to experience my services.
7What is a couples massage?
You come together with someone you’d like to treat a massage as well and either I’ll get an extra bodyworker over and you both get a massage simultaneously, or we’ll toss a coin and I massage you one after the other.
8What is a four hands massage?
Double fun!

I’ll team up with another bodyworker to give you a 4 hands massage. You’ll be massaged by us simoutaniously, this kind of pampering is absolutely next level!

When not to have a massage?

1I woke up with a cold today. Should I come in?
Nope, a massage will likely just make you feel worse. If you are sick, you may get me sick and pass it on to other clients that day.

Even if you are giving less than a 48 hour notice, I prefer you reschedule your appointment if you are feeling unwell, so let me know as soon as possible.
2Can I get a massage when I am in pain?
With the appropriate pressure, massage can have a direct effect on the circulatory system, which helps reduce inflammation and helps relieve pain.

You are encouraged to communicate with me about your pain/comfort level at any time during your massage.

However do check the listing of Contraindications prior to booking. (down here in the FAQ)
3I am pregnant, can I receive a massage?"
Yes you can, however, best is to avoid massages in the first trimester.

I’d recommend to do something with light touch. I don’t have a special pregnancy massage table, so due to the belly, best would be to receive the massage during pregnancy laying on the side or back.
4When should I not get a massage?
It is important for you to communicate with me your health history and keep me up to date on your condition.

Not all types of massage are appropriate for all conditions.

In general, there are a few conditions that would prevent you from getting a massage.

Of course, do not schedule an appointment if you are feeling unwell, have a fever, cold, or a skin condition that is contagious.

The first trimester of pregnancy is generally considered off-limits for massage, as are active chemotherapy or other intensive medical treatments.

If you have a serious medical condition and you are unsure if a massage would be safe for you, I recommend that you speak with your primary care provider to get approval first.

Please check the list of Contra Indications, to make sure if you are good to go.
5What are the contra indications to massage treatment?
Massage treatment is non-invasive, relaxing and natural. It is therefore generally considered a safe treatment for most people.

However….. there are three types of contraindication:

TOTAL, when massage should not be performed at all.

LOCAL, when massage can be performed but not over the contraindicated areas.

MEDICAL, when massage can only be performed once medical permission has been granted.

I have put the following restrictions in place to protect your health and well-being.

- Thank you for taking them as seriously as I do.
