What is a cacao ceremony?

Looking for a moment to pause, reconnect and recharge? A ceremony offers exactly that: a deeply nourishing experience for body, mind and soul. Through silence, sound, intention and movement you experience emotional release, energetic balance and deep relaxation.

After drinking ceremonial cacao, you are guided through gentle yin yoga postures while bathing in the vibrations of singing bowls, gong and other instruments. I work together with yoga teachers to create a safe space for connection with yourself.

No yoga or meditation experience needed. You can also simply lie on a mat and surrender to total relaxation.

Conscious breathing and setting an intention as the foundation for the inward journey.

Chakra alignment

Singing bowls are placed on each chakra to restore energy flow and balance.

Fully organic

All ingredients are vegan, organic and ethically sourced.

The magic of yin yoga and sound healing

Through the opening effect of yin yoga, your body becomes more receptive to the healing vibrations of sound. The singing bowls work at the cellular level: they release tension, clear energetic stagnation and bring the subtle body back into balance.

While the yoga teacher guides you through the postures, I move through the space and place the bowls on the body at each chakra. The healing sound waves through the entire room and creates a shared meditative state.

Ceremonial cacao: food of the gods

Every ceremony begins with a heart-opening cacao elixir. This fairtrade, organic, raw cacao supports focus, lifts your mood and fosters deep emotional connection. The cacao is sourced from suppliers with direct ties to the farmers.

The recipe remains a ceremonial secret, but all ingredients are vegan, organic and ethically sourced. If cacao is not suitable for you, I offer an alternative tea infusion.

What to expect at a ceremony

Every ceremony is unique and attuned to the energy of the moment. These four phases form the common thread.

1

Arrival & intention

We come together in a warm, welcoming space. After a brief welcome and introduction we set our intention for the evening together. Then we drink ceremonial cacao: a heart-opening elixir that makes you receptive to what is to come.

2

Yin yoga & breathwork

An experienced yoga teacher guides you through gentle, restorative postures that open the body and prepare it for the sound healing. Through conscious breathwork you come deeper into contact with yourself. No experience needed.

3

Sound healing journey

While you lie in deep relaxation, I move through the space with singing bowls, gong, handpan and other instruments. The bowls are placed on and around your body at each chakra. The vibrations work at the cellular level and bring deep rest.

4

Integration & sharing

Gently return to your body with warm tea. There is space to share your experience with the group, but this is always optional. Many describe a feeling of clarity, lightness and inner calm.

"The silence between the sounds is where transformation happens"

How it began

Since 2007 I have travelled the world. As a mountain tour leader I led more than 100 trips through dozens of countries. In 2011 I cycled from Lhasa to Kathmandu. In Nepal a sound healing guru introduced me to singing bowls. I was instantly hooked.

After the 2015 earthquakes I organised donation-based sound healing sessions together with yoga studios across Europe. Countless collaborations followed. In Amsterdam I held biweekly ceremonies on the full moon and new moon from a loft in a former nightclub. In the summer at festivals throughout Europe.

Since moving to Ede, ceremonies happen on request, by invitation, or as a collaboration with other studios and facilitators.

Frequently asked questions about ceremonies

No, absolutely not. The yin yoga postures are gentle and restorative. If you prefer not to join the yoga, you can simply lie on a mat and surrender to the singing bowls. Everyone is welcome, regardless of experience.

Most ceremonies last between 90 minutes and 3 hours, depending on the programme and the collaboration. The exact duration is always listed with the announcement.

Ceremonial cacao is raw, minimally processed cacao that has traditionally been used for heart-opening rituals. Our cacao is organic, vegan and fairtrade, sourced directly from farmers. It supports focus, mood and emotional connection. If cacao is not suitable for you, I offer an alternative tea infusion.

Wear comfortable, warm clothing. Yoga mats and blankets are usually provided, but feel free to bring your own mat if you prefer. Bring water and eat lightly before the ceremony.
