Shiatsu is a Japanese form of therapeutic bodywork that works by rebalancing your energy system. Through gentle manipulations, stretches and pressure with fingers, thumbs, elbows, knees and feet, I stimulate specific pressure points along the meridians.

It's a harmonious combination of traditional Chinese medicine and modern physiological knowledge, focused on the flow of Qi (life energy) through your body.

Each session is a step towards releasing tension, easing pain and restoring energy.

Frequently asked questions about shiatsu

You can choose from sessions of 60, 90 or 120 minutes. The more time we have, the deeper I can work. It takes at least 45 minutes for your nervous system to fully relax, so I recommend a longer session if you really want to surrender to the full healing effect.

Shiatsu stands apart through its focus on energy channels and acupressure points, rather than muscle tissue and relaxation techniques. It pairs well with Thai Yoga Massage: both are performed fully clothed on the mat.

Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing. Shiatsu is performed fully clothed, so think joggers or leggings and a t-shirt.

Shiatsu involves pressure, but it shouldn't be painful. The therapy is about finding and releasing tension in a nurturing way. Let me know if you feel any discomfort so I can adjust the pressure.

Absolutely! Shiatsu combines particularly well with Thai Yoga Massage. Both are fully clothed and on the mat. Let me know what you're looking for and I'll create a custom fusion of different bodywork modalities.

Shiatsu should be applied with caution in cases of serious illness, cancer, early pregnancy, acute conditions, osteoporosis and high blood pressure. Always discuss any medical conditions with me before the massage. If in doubt, consult your doctor.

This varies from person to person and depends on your goals, pain level and budget. For acute complaints I recommend weekly sessions until you feel relief. After that you can move to fortnightly or monthly maintenance. Regular, consistent treatments work better than a single intense session.
