Couples massage

A couples massage is a wonderful way to relax and connect with a loved one, friend, or family member.

During a couples massage, you’ll each receive your own tailormade massage journey and an optional shared sound healing experience.

You each choose between receiving your treatment on the massage table (undressed, with oil—best for deep tissue [LINK], sports [LINK], and Lomi Lomi [LINK], massage) or on a Thai massage mat (fully clothed, without oil—best for dynamic Thai yoga massage [LINK], and shiatsu [LINK],). This is based on which massage style resonates most with you. Read more about all the different modalities I offer here.[link]

Alternatively, if you want to learn how to give each other nourishing, muscle-melting massage, check out my classes and workshops. You’ll receive lasting skills to help you connect and care for your loved ones through touch.

How does a couples massage work?

Couples Massage works in one of two ways.

The first option is that you’ll both receive your treatment from me. We’ll toss a coin to see who goes first, and you will receive your treatment one after the other. While one is being massaged, your partner/friend/long-lost cousin can relax in my spacious loft amongst bean bags and a comfy couch (best to bring a good book or podcast). In the summer, you can enjoy the sunshine from a hammock on the balcony. (or one can go and walk in the nearby forrest and spend time at a nearby bakery cafe.

The second option is that I’ll invite a second massage practitioner to my studio, so that you can both receive a massage treatment at the same time. This option is not available to book via the online booking tool and requires a minimum of 72 hours notice, so please reach out to me directly if you both want to be massaged at the same tim

What people say about
Deep Tissue Massage with Michalis

  • Tristan B, eventplanner
We hired Michalis for chair massages during an annual  team celebration—originally for 3.5 hours as part of the afternoon entertainment alongside other performers. But when time was up, people kept asking if he could stay another hour… and another… and another. In the end, Michalis massaged for 8 hours straight, right until the end of the party! Everyone was hooked, and the team already said: we need to book him again next year. - I've booked him several times for different gigs by now and he can easily scale up with colleagues if needed, scheduling is a breeze with his online booking tools.

  • Mees T

"I’ve seen Michalis Massages at Gardens of Babylon events and festivals since 2016, and every time it blows me away. In the midst of wild, high-energy parties, he creates this sacred, grounding bubble where people can drop deeply into their own bodies. It’s not just a massage—it’s a full-on inner journey. Honestly, it’s always my favorite part of the party.

His stamina is unbelievable. During Amsterdam Dance Event, I saw him in action across three gigs in just one weekend—27 hours of massages over two days, right there on the dance floor! I still don’t understand how he does it, but he does it with presence, calm, and a genuine smile every single time. He’s one of a kind."

  • Wieteke B, event organizer
I've worked with Michalis for many years, at a great variety of productions of events, he easily adapts to different roles and environments, depending upon the event he hosts massage workshops, sets up an area for backstage crew massages or we have him create a whole massage haven in a wellness area but sometimes even at the edge of the dance floor, he's easy to work with and always has a smile on his face.

  • Laura S, yoga teacher and retreat owner.
We've flown Michalis in for our retreats more than once,  he has so many skills that he can easily fill several activities, he has lead hikes, taken care of the sound-healing during a yin yoga sound-healing class , given a Thai Massage workshop and has massaged almost everyone of the whole group throughout  the whole week.  Always full power yet caring and with a full heart.

I come from Utrecht and love making it a full day — workout in the woods, then sports massage with Michalis.  It's very convenient that you can shower as well.
    Maurice
  • You can tell Michalis really understands the body. As a serious athlete, I’m picky about bodywork. His sessions are intense, but controlled — I recover faster, sleep better, and train harder. Plus, he’s just a great guy to work with.
  • Theo
I live in Amersfoort, and yes — I drive all the way to Ede for Michalis’ sports massage. You won’t find this blend of deep technique, personalized care, and recovery tools anywhere else.
    Theo
  • Mario
Located right by the forest, Michalis’ studio is a sanctuary. I train hard, and I love hiking. Now I make a day of it — forest walk, massage, reset. Total bliss.
    Mario
  • Tim
I’ve driven from Amsterdam more than once to see Michalis. His space is serene, his hands are strong, and the results speak for themselves. Recovery time is cut in half. Worth every kilometer. -every now and then I combine it with a few days in a cabin on a nearby holiday park, a nice mini getaway!
    Tim
  • Dennis
After strength training, I head from Arnhem to Ede just to get on Michalis’ table. The combo of Red Light Therapy, his TDP lamp, two massage guns and deep tissue work speeds up my recovery like nothing else.
    Dennis
  • Robin
I’m not a gym rat or a runner, but I sit at a desk all day and deal with tension. Michalis blends sports massage with other techniques in a way that feels tailored and intuitive. It’s unlike anything else I’ve tried.
    Robin
  • I first saw Michalis for an extended signature massage. It was incredible. Now I book a monthly sports massage and feel stronger, looser, and more balanced. He just knows what your body needs.
  • Dena K.
There’s something magical about getting a sports massage in a studio next to the forest. I usually go for a trail run, then see Michalis — the perfect combo. Worth the trip from Utrecht every time.

  • Anna K.

I’ve received massages from Michalis for many years now, during the Gardens of Babylon events. No matter how wild or chaotic the party gets around us, he always manages to create a sacred space — calm, grounded, and full of presence. It’s like being taken on a dance: his touch is intuitive, fluid, and deeply connected.

I finally decided to visit him with a friend for an afternoon of teachings— and I’m so glad I did. What Michalis teaches can’t be found in books or videos. It’s not just about techniques or routines, but about truly feeling and listening— to the body, the breath, the energy. He helped me move in a way that felt natural and organic, like a conversation without words.

If you ever get the chance to work with him — take it.

    Anna K.
  • Justina
"What I gained from Michalis wasn’t just technique—it was essence. He’s one of the few teachers who helps you feel the flow in your own body, so that massage becomes less of a sequence and more of a sacred dance."
    Justina
  • Karin
"There are things you can only learn through being shown—through presence, breath, timing. Michalis passes on wisdom that lives in the body, not the page. And that wisdom has forever changed how I work."
    Karin
  • Giorgos
"In a one-on-one session with Michalis, you’re not just taught—you’re invited. Into a space of stillness, attention, and embodied presence. He shows you how to listen with your hands and let your intuition lead the way."
    Giorgos
  • Bella
"There’s something magical about learning from someone who’s so in tune with their craft. Michalis makes bodywork feel playful, alive, and deeply intuitive. You leave feeling like you’ve remembered something ancient."
    Bella
  • Marlous
I attended an Intro to Thai Massage workshop at The Gardens of Babylon's Monastery festival and was so impressed that I booked a session with Michalis right after—it was amazing! My partner and I later visited his studio, where he taught us great techniques, we now use to massage each other. Highly recommended!

  • Michalis covered more than I expected & hoped from the session. The whole session feels like a ritual. Starts with a necessary, warm communication beforehand and a goes through smells, sounds, pressures, forms, directions, densities and complex stretches in a very greaceful, integrated way.
    Geert Jan van Vlastuin
  • First of all, what I loved is that he took all the time to really speak to me before the massage, get to know where I’m at, and what is it that I feel I need and want and he actually applied that in the session.

Frequently Asked Questions

Vivamus in diam turpis. In condimentum maximus tristique.
1How long do I need for deep tissue massage?
When you book a deep tissue massage, you can choose from 60, 90, 120, or 150 minute sessions.

60 and 75 minute sessions are best suited for regular or maintenance massage. In one hour, I can either work in-depth on one specific problem area or give you an ‘express’ general full-body massage.

90+ minute sessions allow you to receive an extended full-body massage. The more time we have, the deeper I can work on your specific concerns and the more benefits you can receive.

It takes at least 45 minutes for your nervous system to relax, so I do recommend booking a longer session if you want to surrender and receive the maximum healing benefits possible.

My value-driven pricing means that the longer you book, the more affordable your treatment becomes per minute, making it easier to prioritize your self-care and wellbeing.
2What is the difference between Swedish massage and deep tissue massage?
Swedish massage is a gentle massage technique that uses long, flowing strokes to promote relaxation and ease tension in the muscles. Deep tissue massage, on the other hand, uses more pressure and focuses on releasing tension and adhesions in deeper layers of muscle tissue.

While both massages can be beneficial, deep tissue massage may be a better choice for those with chronic pain or tension. However, it can also be more uncomfortable during the massage itself. It's best to discuss your goals and concerns with me prior to your treatment to determine which technique is right for you.
3Is deep tissue massage painful?
Deep tissue massage uses more pressure to release tightness than other types of massage, it can be uncomfortable or even painful at times, but it should not be unbearable.

During the treatment, it's important to communicate with me and let me know if the pressure is too much for you. I will work within your individual capacity for pressure and use a scale system to help you learn what you like. I can adjust my technique to make the massage more comfortable for you.
4Is there any risk of injury during a deep tissue massage?
While deep tissue massage is generally safe, there is a risk of injury if the massage therapist uses too much pressure or if the client has an underlying medical condition that makes deep tissue massage unsafe. It's important to let me know if you have any health concerns before the massage.
5Can deep tissue massage help with sports performance and recovery?
Yes, deep tissue massage can be helpful for sports performance and recovery. It can help reduce muscle soreness and stiffness, improve range of motion, and increase blood flow to the muscles, which can help with healing and recovery.

Alternatively, I am trained in sports massage, a specific bodywork modality for increasing athletic performance and recovery. Learn more about sports massage here. [Link]
6Are there any medical conditions that would make deep tissue massage unsafe?
There are some medical conditions that would make deep tissue massage unsafe.

A partial list of contraindications is: fever, vascular conditions, severe heart disease, contagious skin conditions, inflammation, abrasions, cuts, ematomas, cancer, neuritis, recent surgery, infectious diseases, diabetes with vascular dysfunction, fractures, and acute injury.

There are too many possible conditions to list here so it is your responsibility to alert me to any medical condition or injury before a massage begins. You can read more about contraindications here.

If you have any health concerns, it's important to talk to your doctor before getting a deep tissue massage
